Gmail and Adult settings
« on: October 26, 2010, 10:36:13 AM »
Hi All,
I have a frind who is using gmail to send me files and jokes that are adult. When I get them I get an error or the file just doesn't open. The error says something like the file is being blocked by the security settings. I am thinking that there maybe some setting in gmail that is blocking the files because of the adult content.

Thanks

Where does the error message seem to be coming from?  I would be more inclined to think it came from an anti-virus or anti-malware program or even a security feature in your browser.  Have you tried using a different browser?

I looked through Google's settings for gmail and see nothing pertaining to blocking adult content.

I thought that also, it being something on my side, but I get other stuff from other people without any problems.

I am using the windows live email and have had no problems except with this one guy. He has XP and is useing gmail and AVG. I get no images from him and if I get sent something like a short movie it never opens. Like I said I get an error saying no adult content for you!

I have gone over my machine and have disabled all the adult blocking I can think of and I do get stuff from other people so I was thinking maybe gmail has something to filter this out.

Thanks for looking into gmail. I don't have an account so I didn't know if it was his machine or gmail.

Thanks again

maybe try forwarding your mail in question to another email account if you have one.

I sometimes get email with attachments that do not seem to want to open properly when I click on the link in my regular email, but when I forward it to my other less used email account, it opens fine in a readable format oddly.

May give that a try.  :)
