    Files with spaces
    « on: August 03, 2005, 09:28:10 PM »
This may have been covered in another string. If so, I apologize. I have XP, and Command Prompt. I can navigate folders with spaces, and, obiously, a "Myfile.TXT" opens with ease. But, if it's "My file.TXT", it says "Bad command or file name." Is there any way to get DOS to recognize files with spaces?

Yes - enclose the path\filename in double quotes  e.g. del "c:\my downloads\file name.txt" will do the trick.

Well, almost. It's "File Name".TXT. Anyway, thank you. It's the small stuff that usually bothers me, not the hard stuff.

By the way, how do you get promoted to three stars? Do you have to pay money, or something?

Re 3-stars.  I may not have earned them - if you send me $100.-- I can probably swing your #2 - and I can probably swing your #3 for $250.-- or both discounted for $300.--

Newbie, in the context used here, expresses the length of time you have been a forum member based on the number of times you have posted.

I withdraw my offer to you to advance your status in return for hard cash.  After all at the age of just 14 you will soon be able to run rings around us oldies!!

BTW a very warm welcome to the C.H. Forums

Withdraw your offer, huh? As if I could take it! You have any idea how much I'd love that cash?

          Best of regards,

HEY! WHADD'YA KNOW! I FINALLY REACHED 50! (No, not years old!) I still say you need to lower your prices, Dusty. I can't afford about 3 grand to become an "expert".

            Congrats Dilbert.

When you do reach the age of 50 I hope you celebrate rather than commiserate with yourself.

Expert status for 3grand is cheep cheep - by the time you reach Expert just think about the cost of the tucker you will have consumed - all for free.

            Kind regards.
