No internet sound?

Today, me being stupid, decided to adjust the hertz on the sound through the sound manager. The moment i switched it over, the sound stopped. I even put it back to the previous setting, hit the default button and nothing. How can i get my sound back. Also, the sound still works for windows and stuff, but not the internet. I have a 3 year old Acer laptop.

Which Operating System?  XP, Vista or Windows 7?

He is a quick fix.
Create a new user account, or switch to the administrator account. The changes should only affect the current user. Does that work? If so, look at the settings for the other user and see what is different.
