Somehow I lose the idea here. Not losing date is a virtue, not a fault.
Imagine working on your computer and you fell asleep for twenty years. You awake and find the computer battery is dead. You replace the battery and the computer is right where you left it, in the middle of a game. No start up lag. Nothing lost. Before shutting down, the CPU dumped its state into a page of forever RAM and go it back when power was applied. We can go back to using the power plug as a way of shutting off the computer. Just yank the plug.No harm done. Just rough on the plug. We will talk about replacing power plugs rather than PSU.
