problems with watching a dvd
« on: September 13, 2011, 03:48:39 PM »
I have a old tower that I updated with a gigabyte ga-880gm-ud2h board, amd 4 core processor, and a 4 gig stick of memory. It has a dvd reader writer with nero8 software. 700 watt power supply. I am using the onboard video with the hdmi hooked up to a hannspree hf257. The problem started when I tryed to watch a dvd last night. It was working well nice picture when it started putting green digital garbage on the top and bottom of the screen. Then the video froze but the audio keep going. I stopped the movie and restarted it and the same thing after a while. Do you think it is filling up the on board buffer? Maybe need a video card?

Can you try the disk on a different computer?  Perhaps a friend will let you trouble shoot with his system.

Or try a different DVD. I've seen bad DVDs do stuff like that before (green squares, freezing picture with audio)
