I'm a volunteer instructor (2 hours/wk) for an Internet & E-mail class conducted by a local organization for senior citizens. Many of them have little or no keyboard skills and that, of course, slows the momentum of the class sessions. So, I decided to search for an online typing tutorial and found
www.typingweb.com.
I tried it to see how it worked and found it quite helpful. After registering on the site, the free typing tutor can be used. It guides the beginner through the correct use of all fingers in typing all characters on the keyboard. It contains many levels of practice to help the user gradually progress to higher skill levels. After practicing an exercise, it shows a report of the equivalent words/minute speed, percentage error rate, and identifies particular letters or characters where the error rate was higher so that the user can focus on areas where improvement is most needed.
The free account does display ads on the site. Users who would prefer an ads-free tutorial and some enhanced features can pay a one-time fee of $9.99. If you, or someone you know, needs or wants to improve their typing/keyboard skills, I recommend
www.typingweb.com.
