    « on: August 12, 2011, 07:33:25 AM »
Hi guys, my sis has a problem with Google. Everytime she tries to use Google she gets this screen.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks. (=

    In windows XP, go to
    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
If u found the hosts file, right click and select properties Uncheck the "Read-Only" attribute (if checked). Click OK.
Open the hosts file and select the notepad from the list of programs to open with
In the note pad, If u see the below items,U cannot access the website google.com
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 www.google.com

To access the website, delete 127.0.0.1 www.google.com and save the file.

Rebbot ur computer for these changes to take effect...

    1) It was more than likely a virus
    2) It was clear that your copy-pasted that info from some website
    3) Why revive a 2 month-old topic?

I'm using "was" because of reason 3, and the fact that the problem is more than likely gone at this stage.

No, top contributors work hard to provide relevant, quality content, when it's required.  By all means become a top contributor yourself.  In doing so, please respect the guidance of those who have been around a while.  The reason we don't like digging up older posts (yes, I'm guilty of that too!) is that people find it harder to find answers to questions that they themselves asked recently.  If a thread has seen no activity for more than a week or two, it probably means the original poster has found a solution or lost interest.  In either case, there is no reason to flog a dead horse - in fact good reason not to.

Despite how it may feel to you, we are actually trying to help you too.  :)
