Trouble with Accessing server

I have been given a website to design. All the details have been given to me and I have managed to view all the files. But, for some reason, I cannot delete any of the files and I cannot add any new ones. Can anyone think why this could be?

    Mike 10000000...... What format are the files you are trying to revise in ?  Are they uploaded to a server ......?
    Do you have the username and password to get into the
    managenment section ?  What editor are you using ?
    Give us some more info .
