reinstalled windows vista and no internet
    « on: June 04, 2012, 06:32:36 PM »
I recently reinstalled Windows Vista and now I don't have access to the internet.  I have looked around on the internet a bit and it seems to be a driver problem, but I'm not sure which drivers to download.  In the device manager, I have exclamation points next to:
    Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
    Base System Device
    Ethernet Controller
    Network Controller
    SM Bus Controller
    Video Controller
    Unknown Device
    I would appreciate any help

Rather than go into the step by step instructions (some to be done before and some to be done after the reinstall) here is a comprehensive guide to all of it.Pay particular attention to the order of things.

Apparently the Vista DVD was not the one that came with your PC.The maker of the PC would have provided the motherboard chip set drives either on the OEM DVD or another CD.

Without more details of what your did, it is hard to tell you what to do next.

I used the reinstallation CD that came with the computer.  I have another CD that has the computer software, but it won't let me download any of it for some reason

Maybe posting the computer model would help next time.
