    wi-fi connection
    « on: February 01, 2013, 07:58:51 AM »
I have an Averatec laptop running windows xp professional sp3.  It picked up wi-fi and loaded internet until recently.  It still detects wi-fi signal yet won't log on to the internet.  I've tried plugging directly into the network with the same result.  When I try to repair the connection it sends an error message that tcp/ip is not enabled.  I went to properties and it shows that tcp/ip is marked.  Please advise.  Thank you.

Let us try the simple things 1st.
      1. Unplug the power to the router/modem for a minute then plug it back in. does that give access?
2.On the icon for the internet connection (on the task bar beside the time) right mouse click and select "repair". Let it do it's thing until complete and tell us what changed (if anything) truenorth
