    black Screen
    « on: April 13, 2013, 04:57:52 AM »
Hi my son has an ageing toshiba A60. The screen has gone black though i can see that it has fully loaded behind the blackness. I have plugged into an external monitor and this works fine. we have a problem where the power lead that goes into the back of the computer is lose, and causes the laptop to shut down if moved.(since battery has been long defunct).
My question is whether this may be related to the cause, rather than a backlight problem or inverter which i googled.
    Thanks in anticipation

If you can dimly see a normal display (Windows login screen or desktop etc) on the screen, when you shine a desk lamp or flashlight on the front of the screen, then the backlight or its inverter (or both) have almost certainly failed. This is probably not related to the loose power cable, although spikes caused by loose fitting connectors can cause damage to electronic components.
