boot device error with windows 8
    « on: July 19, 2013, 04:19:03 PM »
    Hello,

When starting my laptop the packard bell logo hangs for at least 10/15 minutes i then get the message "your pc needs repairing" and also"boot device not  found"

So i tried to load my installation cd but again no success the cd will not load.
i have now made a bootable usb and tried booting from that and again no success.

What options do i now have to repair this.

    Thanks for any suggestions.
The laptop is a packard bell easy note te running windows 8 64 bit.

Check in the bios to make sure the optical drive is the first device in the boot order and the hard drive is the second device. Save the settings, exit, reboot. What happens? If you still can't boot to the hd you should at least be able to boot to the bootable cd/dvd now.

      Hello Allan,

Thanks for the reply and apologies for my late reply.

I have tried all the different boot orders in the bios.
with the installation disc the windows 8 symbol comes up and just hangs and thats it.
      nothing else happens.

      How old is the Laptop?
With Windows 8, it must be fairly new. Is it still under warranty?
What sort of USB boot program did you try?
Do you have another PC, or can you gt a friend  to help you?
