spamgourmet looks like a good tool to avoid some spam that can result from entering contests. 

A reminder from my comments in reply #10: you can use filters in Yahoo Mail to send certain messages directly to Trash.

Hacker, sorry.  I neglected to mention that it's already going to Spam.  I want it to be filtered and go directly to trash and not find it in my Spam folder every day!  I feel like I have to check Spam every day just in case something got put in there that shouldn't have been. It's a Yahoo account and they seem to be having trouble with everything these days - hijacking, sign-ins, etc.  Thanx.

I also have a Yahoo account & get the same emails.  I check SPAM all the time because good ones sometimes go there instead of Inbox.  SPAM filters are not perfect, but it's better than nothing.  I probably get 100 SPAMS per day.

Opting Out of email generally just tells them it is a valid email account & sell it for more money.

Been a spamgourmet user for a long time. It's awesome.

It's very flexible in naming conventions, number of nuisance emails it will let through, and also as a disposable email generator.

(For instance, I sign up for stuff and use the website or offer as my address - so, for example '[email protected]'... That way, I can actually pay attention to who is sending my name, where.  And you can adjust it to allow one message through - a confirmation, say - or up to 20 messages through. And while it doesn't archive messages, it does keep a count of how many it's thrown away over the years, from each address...)
