Computer suddenly boots in safe-mode-esque [SOLVED]
    « on: September 25, 2013, 08:01:52 PM »
--- Somehow my startup selection in msconfig was switched to selective, switching to normal fixed everything. Case closed. ---

This morning my computer booted abnormally fast, like 3 or 4 times as fast as normal. The window style is the classic windows 98 look, the sidebar is bright white with only a couple gadgets, most external devices (speakers, ethernet, webcam) won't connect. Every single startup service in msconfig has been enabled for some reason. In my System window, processor and memory are listed as "not available". In fact, many things just don't seem to work or are not available. Running sfc /scannow just told me it couldn't start.

It feels like safe mode but it isn't. Resolution is correct on both monitors, but there is no option for aero. Last time I used the computer all I did was enable a logitech startup service for my keyboard, install python, and run some python scripts.

Windows Vista 64 SP2, 4gb memory, radeon 4850, Intel Q6600 2.4 GHz. Six year old computer with no hardware upgrades. I tried a system restore but that only gives an error that system restore isn't functioning. Malwarebytes says I'm clean.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
