    Unable to access Music files
    « on: May 23, 2014, 04:24:58 PM »
Hello everyone and those who are reading my post I would first like to thank you all for your help. I recently backed upped my computer and music to an external hard drive (A WD "My Passport Ultra) and afterwards I restored my computer to its factory settings. I moved all the data back onto the restored computer and I get this message whenever I attempt to open my file (picture below) I have attempted to change the ownership of the files to "Everyone" but I still get the same message when I attempt to open my music using windows media player.

Try right clicking the drive itself and go thru the change ownership steps...
Something on the external is blocking access....

+1 for this suggestion. I did the same on a drive that I moved from another computer - what a headache it was until I figured that out.
