A laptop is equipped with Intel Celeron?
    « on: June 10, 2014, 09:29:51 PM »
From the beginning of Pentium, Intel has developed Core, Centrino and now P4. They are the CPUs of main stream but cost-effective. Currently Intel developed Celeron for low price market.

    I saw a laptop, it’s feature:
    OS: Windows 8 system,
    CPU: Intel Celeron
    CPU Frequency: 1.8GHZ
    Core: Dual-Core
    RAM: 2GB DDR3

Would that be blocked when working? Anybody knows the limitation of Celeron CPU?

Modern Celerons are pretty basic chips.  They are fine for basic stuff such as office work and web browsing but will struggle with anything more intensive such as video editing.  The machine you linked only has 2gb of RAM so will be okay for running maybe one or two things at the same time but won't be great for multitasking.

It would help if you could provide a link to the PC in question.

From the beginning of Pentium, Intel has developed Core, Centrino and now P4.
The P4 is a very old chip - The Intel Core, Pentium and Celeron series CPUs are the current generation.

The Celeron has been around since like 1998.

Anyway Celeron's are great for basic web and office stuff.  They typically lack a lot of, (or have any) L2 cache depending on the generation.

So in short, they are economy chips for basic systems.  If you will be doing ANYTHING other than web surfing and basic office software, then you would normally want to steer clear.
