    Pesky Java installation
    « on: July 12, 2014, 09:38:03 AM »
Well I've removed and installed this about 20 times, the 1.7.0=60-b19, and it still doesn't work. It says it's installed, and enabled, but when I go to the Java site and try to verify installation, nothing happens.  there are applets that I'm trying to use (tubesock) and it won't run. Other computers in the house are fine, (laptop) but this desktop just won't bite.  I've tried the offline install also with no luck.  Multiple restarts too. Could use a little more help please.  Dell 64 bit running windows 7 home premium.  I also notice that my internet explorer is labeled as "internet explorer.ink"  how do I find out what I am running?

Run their uninstaller then re-boot and DLoad and do a fresh install...
However you may be infected...some nasties block the latest installs.
What protection apps do you have and when's the last time you ran scans ? ?

I have run the uninstaller for java, verified that all remains were gone, even after reboot.  Also tried CC cleaner uninstall.   used MBAM and SASP and AVG free all up to date and all found nothing, except the usual few adware pups, no Trojans, viruses.  Still no luck after this. Have tried from the java site and also the offline install.  I think it's some of the settings for java on the advanced page, I haven't touched any yet, all default.  Maybe run yet another round of scans...

You need the 32-bit Java if you are using it in your web browser.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Tried a fresh approach by uninstalling old then downloading from Zulu soft java 7 update 10 32 bit.  Still no go.  "Couldn't initialize tubesock: unable to communicate with applet after 5 attempts""

Have you considered it may be a tubesock issue ? ?

It works on our laptop, not on our desktop.
