DDR, GDDR-3?
« on: January 16, 2006, 08:51:04 PM »
I am choosing between an ATI Radeon X800 XL 256MB GDDR-3 AGP graphics card ($240) and an ATI Radeon X850 PRO 256MB DDR AGP graphics card ($225) to play BF-2 & COD-2. I have a DELL Dimension 4600 with 512MB (max 2048MB) of DDR SDRAM. What is the difference between the GDDR-3 graphics card and a DDR graphics card? Can I run the GDDR-3 card in my computer? What about the DDR card? Which one would you choose?

Personally, I would pick the cheapest, just because they can run both. You can run both on your computer, but installing could be a pain. I would say the cheaper one, but for $15 bucks, you get more reliability. But the GDDR-3 is my choice, you really don't need to spend more money for something that you don't need.
