Sound Problem
« on: January 28, 2006, 04:34:18 PM »
Hi! I just downloaded the Everest Ultimate so I could find out what sound devices I have on my comp.

My problem: Every time I play just a sound or music or just a key beep, my computer cannot seem to stay up to speed with the sound or music. Does this mean my sound card is on the fritz? It also does this when I put a CD in. It just cant get the sound out! PLEASE HELP!!!! (I have tried changing the speakers and it did not help.) I am not computer illiterate but this one has baffled me! :-?  :-/

Before you do anything make sure your computer is clean.
Unwanted malware running in the background will slow your computer down.

I have SpySweeper, AdAware, and PCcillin. I have done a search and have cleaned all. I STILL have a scratchy sound coming from my speakers when a sound is played. HELP!

Try updating your sound card drivers. Which operating system are you using?

I tried that. It tells me that I do not need to update the sound card. I have already uninstalled it restarted the comp. and reinstalled the card. Still nothing works. I also searched the net for a replacement driver. I finally found one but it did not help! By the way I am using a Dell 3000 with Win XP  :-?

If it is Dell equipment, don't search the net. Only use what can be downloaded from the Dell site!

Try those speakers on another computer, just to make sure.  ;)

I did find that I needed to go thru Dell. I downloaded the driver and installed it. Nothing has changed. I have resorted to listening to music on a stereo! I do not know what else to do.  :'(
