Hard Drive Question

How do I know if my Computer can use a SATA hard drive? I have a Dell Dimension 2400.  I believe my hard drive is ATA but im not sure.

Could I get a SATA hard drive and just install it?

No, you cannot install SATA without a SATA adapter card. Here is what the Dell site says about the hardware:
