Networking Problem
« on: July 08, 2006, 10:20:56 AM »
I am trying install a Wireless Netgear router - my ISP is AOL and I have followed their guidance for set up.
Everyting is fine except that the transmitting light does not come on.
All other lights are on but in the Troubleshoot section Aol hints if all other lights are not on but nothing if the transmitting light is not on.
There is a Windows message saying "network has not assigned a network address to this computer" but according to AOL set up guide they would configure the computer but I cannot get to this stage as there is no wireless signal.
I would be grateful for any ideas.

Is wireless enabled on the browser settings page?

Normally netgear is 192.168.0.1 and then username = admin and password = password

The password should also be changed and and chose encrytion, I'd use WPA over WEP as its more secure.
