i have a sony dvd r/rw dual layer...i dont seem to know how to play a dvd it did not come with any specific software...are ideas??? help please

You have to buy a DVD decoder like WinDVD or PowerDVD to make it work, although it can be usable with Media Player if you have the correct codecs that tell it what to do.

What version of Windows and what version of Media Player?

i have a sony vaio...and i boot it up so my hard drive is clean but i need the software and now i cant play dvd
