First we need more info, like what kind of usb flash/mp3 drive this is? What does it say when you plug it in a computer with WinXP and look at its properties? Does it give any name at all?

And it may never work with Win98. Keep that in mind.

that is true Win98 has a lot of compatibility issues from alot of USB devices.
