Buffer Overrun Detected
« on: January 08, 2007, 10:02:14 AM »
Hey,
I need help! My computer is being retarded, for the second time this week.. Any ideas?
This is what my computer is saying, in a little box, on the desktop; I will even show you the screenshot I took of it!
--------------------------------
Buffer overrun detected!
Program: C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must be terminated.
--------------------------------
Everytime I click OK is resets my Desktop screen, and then comes up again like 5 seconds later. Why is it doing this to me? I am about ready to throw it out the window. Anyways, here is the screenshot, any ideas?

Sounds like malware posing as explorer.exe (note lower case exe).  Spybot S&D is reputed to be the removal tool for this.

Suggest running maintenance SpyBot S&D, AdAware, your AV Scan etc..

Good luck
