DVD failure

After inserting a CD or DVD, the drive spins for a few seconds and then stops. When checking status of the device, windows says that it is working properly. Further, if the device is selected (clicked) in My Computer a screen message says there is not disc in player when there is a disc in the player.

Do you have another drive you can swap it out with?  Sounds like the drive has gone south.  :-[

this is might be because of some disk failure.. your DVD might have some scratches.. making it not readable.. so trying ur disk with another drive or ur friends...

And to make sure it isn't the drive that has failed swap it into a known working machine...if it does the same thing it's time for a new one.
