    Reinstall Windows 98SE
    « on: March 29, 2007, 07:45:23 AM »
I have an older P-4 1.8G with 256mb & a 40G HD running Windows 98SE.  Because of ongoing problems, I need to reformat the HD & reinstall Windows 98SE.  I will not  upgrade this computer to Windows XP.  My only concern is that, as of the summer of 2006, Microsoft no longer supports this operating system.  Before I begin, I need to know if the patches for Windows 98 up to summer 2006 are still available for download.

Just in case you didnt already know:

If you are going to do a complete reformat, then I suggest this:
Make sure you have a good bootdisk, you will need it

www.bootdisk.com with the Windows 98 boot disk will be fine. The CD ROM drive will be loaded as the R: drive

Once you get the disk working, and you restart your computer, do the format, and then use the boot disk to install 98SE with R:\setup.exe

But thats only if you dont have a special System Restore CD
