You have to format before installing Windows XP first. Should you attempt to overwrite Windows XP.

More information is required.

1st thankyou raptor for your response. I really appreciate it.

I formatted the drive successfully. Then I was able to install windows xp all the way till I got to finalize installation. .. then system went black like it was going to reboot.. Windows xp screen came up with progress bar below and monitor went black with green light turning orange. That is where I am at now. The installation did not complete it looks like..

Format and attempt again.

Have you used the 'Quick' format option?

Are you using a legal version of Windows XP?
