what do i do now:(

 ??? w :( where do i go from here i have pressed enter  but now the prompt comes up to ask me to type something what do i type ? is any one out there? please help
the prompt says   C:\Windows>

i have a problem i am trying to fix with Error message of  the msconfigsystem

    nowbforeal ...Perhaps if you let us in on exactly what the issue is we may be of more assistance.
    And a bit of info on your system might be advantageous as well.

    ok sorry bout that this is what i see when the laptop ( Compaq Presario 912RSH Amd athlon  XP) comes on please help me thank you if anyones is there.
    the erro message says WIndows could not start because the following file is mising or corrupt:
    \WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM

      nowbforeal .......  What happens if you try and boot up in safe mode ?

      When did this error first apear ?

      IT DOES TE SAME THING THE ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP AND SAYS
      WIndows could not start because the following file is mising or corrupt:
      \WINDOWS\system32\config\SYS

        nowbforeal ......  You failed to mention when this started and if there were any other issues going on. The more info you can provide the easier it is for all.
        Were you trying to do something and it went wrong or perhaps a update or a software install or trying to tweak something ?

        Have you tried going to safemode ?--->SafeMode

        In safemode choose'Last Known Good Configuration.

        Microsoft Office is not to be seen

        THank you  eery one who helped me i appreciate it i got it done via Reinstalling WIndows Xp  but now i cannot seem to se Microsoft office  please let me know if that should have been loaded as well when i did the reinstalling thank you.

        You reinstalled Windows XP??? Did you do a repair install or did you reformat your drive?
        To get microsoft office, you have to have the CD for it.

        An alternative to Microsoft Office?
        I have two accounts, this one doesnt have MS Office so I use Open Office.
