can anyone help? when I click on a link from agoogle search it does not go to that link but jumps to something all together different.

It certainly sounds like your browser has been hijacked...

Post a list of what protection programs you have and when they were run last...

Sounds like you've got yourself a hijacker.  Go ahead and post a HijackThis log for us to take a look at.  Also, please list all protection programs you have installed on your computer.
