im pretty sure you have to pay for a tool such as the one you want , well i did any way

what do you mean by "well I did anyway" did you use a program to correct registry issues that you had at one time?  If so, which one did you use?

First travel Here  and follow all the instructions.

Note: This will also provide you with a tool to backup your Registry...

Next travel Here  and read the directions to familiarise yourself with the procedure. I suggest printing out a copy for reference.
Pay special attention to the warnings listed.

If all the steps are followed correctly your XP install will be fully repaired and all your Programs and data will be intact...

However you may want to consider backing up the important things first...

    Good Luck

so a repair install is that dangerous huh?  :(

you don't by any chance know of a program that can repair the registry do you patio?

Or, I was thinking, is there any way that I can force a reinstall of my applications, at least most of them. What I mean, is, is there a file that every program has that I can use to reinstall the program?

        I HAVE FOUND THE CULPRIT!!

After a couple more hours of browsing the web, I have found out why this problem happened to me (change/remove buttons missing in add or remove programs)

        Yahoo! messenger

this has only started occurring since I UN-installed Yahoo! Messenger.
I have also read of other people who have had the same thing happen to them once they UN-install Yahoo! messenger.
Anybody have any ideas as to who I should complain to over at Yahoo!?

PLEASE, as a warning to anyone with Yahoo! Messenger, do not! uninstall Yahoo! messenger, *censored*, don't even IN-stall it.

I did it the long way, I reinstalled all of my software apps.  :o  Yeh, I still can't believe I did it, it took me like the whole evening. And I still need to go and find a few more freeware programs and un/reinstall them.

This just seemed like the "lowest risk" method available.

Now, does anybody have a good guide on how to back up the entire registry??  (and how to use the back up, just in case)

Click on the link for ERUNT in the Norton Removal instructions...

I did not see a link for ERUNT in the norton removal instructions, however, I googled it and found the download, then installed and ran the program, pretty sweet.  So I guess now, as long as I can boot into windows, I can repair my system to the status that its at today, without doing a system restore!

Thanks for all the help guys,

Yes but make sure to read up on using ERUNT. There are different circumstances that would require different methods to restore a corrupted registry.
