    HELP!!! LAPTOP TROUBLE!!!

    OK so i have this windows xp IBM Thinkpad laptop and when i boot it up the monitor goes completely black and i cannot see anything can anyone help!!!

      and also when i start it up i sometimes get into windows and sometimes i dont get that far...also i tried safe mode but that doesn't work... it still goes black (usually after windows loads)

          We need more information.
          What version of windows are you using?
          When did this problem start and did you install or remove anything around that time.
          You say the screen goes black, does it look like the screen is turning off?

            its windows xp and i dont remember installing or removing anything... however i remember accepting a file on msn that might have been a virus... and yes... the screen goes black like it is turning off

            The most important factor is what specifically happened before the problem began. Downloading a file that might have been a virus is never a good idea. What was it and what virus/spyware protection are you using?
