Fullscreen Games are Small In Center

I just got a laptop and i try to play games that are fullscreen and they are small in the center.
Quake can go completely fullscreen, but only cause theirs an option to have it 1200 x 780 (or something like that).

Its really annoying.

Try changing the game's resolution around. What options are there and what is the resolution of your monitor?
