Some specs would be helpful...
and just because there is no visible damage, like burn marks or discoloration, doesn't mean the motherboard isn't bad.
Do any lights come on or fans spin up?
You said this is "very new." How new exactly? new enough to still be covered under Dell's warranty? if so, I'd let them take care of it.
