missing file problem

hi. my pc goes to stand by mode as soon as i start. it quite risky  towork u never know when it will shut off i think there some problem with windows folder in the local hardrive. i can afford to loose ne files so please try n help

    IS your computer cooled correctly? Hardware inserted properly? More info on system please.

    its has windows xp service pack 2 n its a dell demension despktop 4300

    in the run box type sfc/scanow....this will check the system folders....are you sure its not a power issue...how long as this been doing it from hib/stand by...

    have you checked the power options in the control panel

    It definately sounds like a power supply problem to me.
    Have you checked the voltage levels with a digital multimeter?  Remember, Dell Power supplies' wiring and voltages are completely different than the standard atx.
