Firefox Zoned Out!

Zone Alarm free came up with a box saying there was an important update. I clicked on it and it took me to the Zone Alarm Web site. I downloaded Zone Arm free update, but running the install a box came up saying:-
"ZLclient.exe. Application Error. The Application Failed to initialize properly (oxc000142) Click on OUT to terminate the application."

Since then not only do I not have Zone Alarm, but somehow it has stopped Firefox from working! I have tried Restore to no availe. Have uninstalled Zone Alarm, run CCleaner and rebooted. But still can't get Firefox to run or Zone Alarm to install.
I have tried uninstalling Firefox, rebooting and Reinstalling Firefox, but it just comes up with "unable to find server" whatever Web page (including Oragne home page) I try to go to. But IE goes on line with no problem!
Any helpful suggestions please?
I did try using NetVeda Safety Net freee firewall on another PC but was not too pleased with it, is there perhaps another firewall that is free that anyone on here would recomend to use if Zone Alarm is not going to install?

You may try to reinstall ZA, and then uninstall it again, using its own uninstaller, not Add/Remove.

Thanks Broni. I tried that and ZA installer kept telling me "True Vector" was stopping it. I tried deleting the TV files but was unable to, but managed in the end by using WinPatrol. Rebooted and now Firefox and Thunderbird work. I have installed Filseclab free firewall instead of having the problems with ZA again. I don't know much about this firewall, so just hope it is as good as ZA was?

you'll see, that your new firewall has pretty poor ratings. You may want to reconsider.

Thanks again Broni. I will give one of the higher rated firewalls a try. Just don't want to reinstall Zone Alarm and end up with the same problems again!

I don't like ZA, either. I use Comodo, and happy with it.
