    Computer hang-ups

    i bought an Asus EN8600GT Silent video card with 256mb of DDR3RAM on it, and installed it in my computer along with another Gb of RAM, and a new Power supply. The video card blowed big time, hung up for two or three seconds, and would not run my games worth a flip. I had a ATI Radeon 1700SE w/528mb of ram in there, and have since put it back in my computer. But My game still acts quarky! My ram is composed of 2 sticks of 1 Gb, and 2 - 528Mb sticks. One of the gigabyte sticks is a Corsair, and the other is Samsung. Could this be an issue. The guy at the electronics store said it didn't matter.
    I've done all the cleaning, and spyware checking, defraging, etc..looked at startup processes. Nothing has changed since before I done the upgrade. Any ideas?

      are you removing the old video drivers before installing new ones?

        Remove one of your ram sticks to see if it helps. Also do what is suggested above. Remove the driver before installing the latest one.

          I did uninstall the ASUS driver / control panel package. I reinstalled ATI's, but I am still getting this strange pause at times, like when I'm beginning to type in a text block like this one, or using the wheel on my mouse to scroll down a page.

            Frankie, I did think about that...which one should I take out, the new one (1Gb Corsair) or a 512Mb?

              Was the computer running ok before you tried to install that graphics card? If so try doing a system restore.

                Yes, I had some problems prior to that when it lost the keyboard, and I done a complete restore, after that everything was ok. I have since remove the new card and reinstalled my old one. The memory is the only thing that I can think of that is the issue. The MB specs say it will support 4Gb of ram.

                  Remove one stick of ram and see how the computer goes. If you still get problems i would suggest you do a system restore. Could be that graphics card driver has upset your system and system restore would solve this.

                      Hey Frankie...It seems OK, but tell me why taking one stick out would help? Also, is low density ram better than high density.

                        By system restore i don't mean reinstall windows. I mean the system restore in accessories. Taking your computer back in time to when all was ok. Hope you know what i mean  ;)

                            Low density modules have 100% compatibility with ALL systems and ALL chipsets. So i would say low is better.

                            What ram do you have exactly? Did you check to see if your board supports the ram you bought. What is your motherboard?
