Search engines send me to advertisers, not websites
« on: January 16, 2008, 07:45:58 AM »
Recently, whenever I go into a search engine, such as Yahoo or Google, and click on a particular web site, I am sent to an advertisment page that may be related to what I am looking for, but not the web site I clicked on.  No matter what I do, from using Spybot to Adaware to Avast, I can't get rid of this problem.  The only way to get to the web site selected is to copy the URL and then to go to my home page and copy it there to get into it.

I cannot do a system restore as I've made too many changes recently.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

    Sounds like a browser hijack.
Go through the steps here and post the required logs in the Computer Viruses and Spyware section of the forum.
