changing the type of file to be saved
« on: January 31, 2008, 02:12:10 PM »
Greetings,

I have been using my computer for mostly genealogy work and am having a problem

with saving .ged files.   I go to file, then save as, and then I get 4 choices,

mostly .html.  I want to change the file type to .ged so that other programs and

people that I send the file to can open it.

My daughter says she has the same problem.

When a document is saved, why can't I decide what format to save it in.  It won't let

me type anything over any of the choices that the computer gives me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

In order to save the file as .ged the program in question must be capable of saving to that type of file.
What is the program you're having problems with and do you know for a fact that it can create .ged files?
