Hello and welcome to the forum. If you monitor is working right, I think Vista's recognizing it as a generic PnP monitor is not a problem. So, I wouldn't worry about it.
I have two different model 17 inch Samsung monitors attached to my Win XP computer. My Display Properties Settings panel shows one as a PnP monitor but shows the other one by exact model; and, contrary to what I would expect, the one it shows by exact model is the older one. But, both monitors work equally well.
