Fractals

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experiance in creating Fractals?
I've had a bit of a search on the net and come up with a few things but has anyone got any experience in Making them?

To narrow it down a bit i'd like to find out how difficult they are to make and any recommendations about software or hardware requirements would be helpfull.

At the bottom half of the page you'll find many links to the heavier mathmatics side of things, and at the top of the page you can go to the "software" section for a few apps to help, as well as a few tutorials.
