hi have windows xp o/system have put new motherboard in case processor is amd sempron 1.4 have 2 x PC2100 memory chips 1 x 256 single sided and 1x 256 double comes up with  cmos memory size wrong we enter cmos settings then save but the computer freezes until we clear cmos settings any help please

Did you check the ram compatibility with your new mobo?

Mis-matched RAM.
Bad CMOS battery.

Some MBoards won't run on both single and double bank RAM.
