Hard Drive -Boot.ini question

I took a 60GB HD out of a blown motherboard HP computer and installed it into an eMachines system that was given to me which I upgraded from a 2.0 Ghz Celeron to a 2.66Ghz P4. When installing Windows 2000 Pro to this hard drive I selected for it to delete the C and D partitions. Then created a new C: partition that was 60GB. Windows 2000 Pro installed to this new partition, and the next time I turned the system on I noticed that it had the option for Windows 2000 or Windows XP Home at a Boot.ini choice screen. I selected 2000 vs XP Home, and the OS loaded fine.

What I am trying to figure out is if i wiped off the partitions, and started a new clean partition, how did the system know that there was XP Home on this HD after the partitions were wiped clean and a new partition created. I since have gone into the boot.ini to remove the XP Home option, but thought I would post this to see if anyone knows how this happened???

do the zap 1st,using CD ,it just delete patition, and wipe.
but do ZAP,the MBR will be wipe.
i have a problem HD before,and i try n try many times using installation CD to format,partition.but my winXP always have problem.
then, i try zap 1st, the problem is solved.

Ya. That's right solution. zap can solve the problem.

What is "zap"?  Is it a software program?
