Secunia PSI, no communication after (RC1) to (RC2) upgrade?

I have been using Secunia PSI and love it, but the other day when I opened it I noticed there was a new version so I downloaded it and during installation of the new version (RC2), the old version (RC1) was uninstalled. Now the new version will not communicate with the Secunia update site (or whatever all it does).
When I open the program I see the screen shown in the 1st screen shot here:

Then after a few minutes I see the error screen shown in the 2nd screen shot here:

 My Windows Update is up to date, I have IE7 currently set as my default browser, Secunia is shown as "allow" in my AVG 8 Firewall.
 What am I doing wrong?

(BTW), The Secunia (RC1) desktop icon seen in the 2nd screen shot no longer works and has since been deleted.

As the error message suggests, is there an exception in your firewall to let it through?
