« on: June 30, 2008, 08:56:25 AM »
can someone tell me whats the difference between the ms-dos boot disk (the one you can create by right click on A: drive in window) and the one that you manually put in the boot.ini, ntldr and ntdetect.com? and btw can you create one of these on a CD? thanks

Welxcome to the CH forums.

The ms-dos disk will boot to ms-dos.

The floppy/cd containing NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM will boot into NT and load Windows XP from the partition/folder specified in BOOT.INI.

Here is an earlier discussion on the latter from the Hardware forum.

Good luck
