That brand is a good brand. Some flash drives lie about how much space is actually on them.
Try copying over a few folders at a time.

Because it is microsoft outlook backup I am not sure how to move a few files at a time??

It is a 16 GB thumb drive.

I am trying to move 9.5 GB  could there be that much difference?

wait... so your trying to move a single file that is 9.5 gb?
To do that, you have to format the flash drive as ntfs. Fat32, which is most likely the default, can only handle file sizes up to 4 gb. For how to format the drive for ntfs, go here: http://www.ntfs.com/quest22.htm

Ok ..... seems to be working.............my guy says 17minutes to finish.

That's awesome michaewlewis.  Man I was starting to think this would never work!

OK ....I might have understated my needyness earlier........once I have those microsoft outlook files ( on the thumb drive) how do I  install those into my microsoft outlook on this computer ( my laptop)?  and have them work for all my emailing needs?

There is an import function in Outlook that should do the trick. Go to File -> Import and Export

And out of curiosity, which files are you copying? Are you copying the archive file, or another file?

          It's the archive backup file.

          Will everything be OK?

          should be good.
And actually, I gave you the wrong instructions for importing it. You'll need to go to File -> Data File Management and add the *.pst file to the list.

            Worked perfect.

Even  got the outlook to work with your instructions.

The formatting of the thumb drive was bang on.  Worked first time after that.

            Thank you very much.

I have a much greater appreciation of all your guys skills now than before.
