Disk Boot Failure, system registry-CPU problem?
    « on: July 18, 2008, 11:05:28 AM »
Hi, i have been working on computers for about 5 years and never had this problem. Ever since i built a computer in 2006, i have had a problem with it reporting boot failure and system registry problems. I have swapped out RAM, power supply(after failure), motherboard, Video card, and gone through 2 hard drives, and it still comes up. I have also switched xp for vista, and it keeps on reporting. The computer works for about 2 days after i reinstall everything. My question is, could the Processor be causing a problem like this, or could my luck be that i get faulty hardware

    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ socket 939
Foxconn NF4SK8AA-8KRS 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
    EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card
    SAMSUNG HD250HJ 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
    500w Power Supply
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Sounds like you first built a computer in2006 and subsequently changed ALL OF THE COMPONENTS except the CPU; yet, have had the same error persist.

If the above is correct, seems to me that the probabilities point to the CPU as the error source.
If you don't have time to do it right
...when will you have time to do it over?

Ya thats what the really weird thing is, and you wouldnt think it would come up with an error like that. I am ordering a cheap 939 processor to see if it makes a difference. I would be stumped and trash it if the processor is not the problem. lol

I guess that it could just be bad Karma :)

Post back when you get your new CPU.

          Best of luck!
