Nothing left but windows explorer
« on: March 03, 2005, 08:51:21 PM »
I caught something nasty back on Feb. 11th which I believe I have finally removed.

The only thing I have left is windows explorer!

No:

system restore (the calendar is missing)
internet explorer (I had to download Firefox)
run line (I have to open tasmanager)
desktop icons (mostly) don't work
start menu "programs" are gone
many other features are gone

Any advice other than re-install?

Is it possible to take the file "system restore" uses and burn it to a disc.  Then reinstall windows instal the burned "system restore" file and go back?

I have one particular program that registers itself by dialing into the company which is now bankrupt.  So I would never be able to use this cherished program unless I continue to limp along or somehow fix windows.

I ordered the SP2 pack via CD in the hopes that it nmay restore some files that were corrupted.

    Is all hope lost?
