Computer restarts when try to dial up modems
« on: March 16, 2005, 09:31:53 AM »
HELP....

our computer completly restarts everytime we try to connect to the internet.  It doesn't dial or anything.  The connection box never appears.  As soon as you double click on the icon to connect to the internet the computer restarts.

I think friend that there can be some kind of virus or spywares. So install an up-to-date Anti Virus and scan your whole system. Norton is the best one.  For spywares, use anti spyware from Microsoft and scan your whole system. I hope that this will solve your problem.

Hi, Self (not myself, but yourself--aaah, you know what i mean)!

    I agree with Dr. W.

Another possibility: There is a hardware, firmware or software problem with your modem.  Has this modem ever worked correctly on this computer before?

One other question: Were any changes made just before this happened?  (For example, did you add a new expansion card (like a video card), or more RAM (memory)? or did you install a new software program?)

    Please let us know.
