I have searched for this , but nothing works HELP!
    « on: September 27, 2008, 08:55:21 PM »
I installed new ram it is the correct type. After I installed and turned the computer on I got a long beep with three short beeps. I checked the ram and it was not installed correctly. After installing the ram correctly I turned the computer no more beeps but it will not boot up the light in the front stays yellow like it is asleep I have tried waking it up with the key board but nothing happens. I have taken out the new ram and reinstalled the old ram and it does the samething. Computer has always ran fine untill I tried adding the new ram. Can someone help me.

Remove the old RAM and try it...
If it still doesn't boot properly you have mismatched RAM.
Travel to Crucial.com and enter your machine specs to determine what that machine will take...

The ram is correct. I removed all the ram and tried to start it up but it does the same thing I am getting power but the harddrive acts like it is stuck. I believe the hard Drive is still spinning but it will not boot. I turn off the computer and disconnected power to the computer. (this is strange) When I plug in the power plug into the back the computer it comes on automatically with out me hitting the power button. I am starting to think the hard drive is toast.

On certain computer mobo's like D'*censored*, even changing ram can cause the bios to go crazy.  The only way I've found to correct this, is:

      1.  Unplug the PC from the AC power.
      2.  Open the PC and carefully remove the CMOS battery from its holder on the motherboard.
      3.  Leave the computer alone for about 30 minutes to an hour.
      4.  Replace battery. (if you have access to a Digital Volt Meter, check the battery and make sure it tests out to 3.0vdc or better.  Anything less than 3.0vdc can cause you all sorts of problems)
      5.  With the battery reseated in its holder, restore the line power and try to power ON the PC once again.
      6.  Immediately tap the appropriate key to get into the CMOS Setup and reset the date and time.  You may also want to set the boot order.
Save the CMOS settings and let the PC continue to boot.  It should work.

I've used this simple technique to revive PC's that were by all rights, DEAD.

It won't cost you anything to try it, but just a little of your time.
Try it with the original ram, not the new ram.

If your new ram is made by "Kingston", all bets are OFF!

Yes, And like I said before the old ram put back in and it will still not boot up. I have cleared the jumper to reset the bios but still no luck.

You may have unseated your vid card. Try taking it out and reseating it.
Make sure all of your drive cables have a tight connection. Make sure you are grounded before touching any internal components.

Can you get into BIOS? Does anything show on the monitor when you start up?

Try removing the CMOS Battery for about 20 minutes, put it back in and try again.
