I'm back.  The data on my E drive was lost due to formatting but I was able to recover some of it using the program you advised.  My next question is: Now that I have a working copy of XP on my C drive and all my data files backed up on my E drive, should I physically disconnect my E drive and keep it detached until I need to add more files and/or retrieve corrupted files?
Once again, thank you so much for your help.

Not really...if you are planning on using it it should be hooked up...
Burn whatever data you saved from it and anything else that's left from it....format it again to make sure it's  clean and put it to use.
